Have Gun, Will Trample

Brian Woodman

The characters come accross an ancient diary written during the 19th century by a prospector in Texas named Artemus Martin. The book describes his exploration of an uncharted valley that was supposedly haunted by spirits. A large, loud beast made off with his mule and trampled his companion to death. He escaped without apparently recollecting what the beast looked like.

Possibilities

1     Martin murdered his companion in an aborted claim-jumping attempt. The whole account is a fraud.

2     The valley is real, and inhabited by live dinasours. Some of them are still roaming the valley.

3     The valley is the home of degenerate Indians and lost explorers that worship the Black Goat with a Thousand Young. The cult, its vile goddess and monsters related to the mythos still reside in the valley.
